Why Does the NHL’s War Room in Toronto Exist?
For those of you that missed it, take a look at this goal from the Coyotes-Thrashers game on Thursday night:
The call on the ice was a goal, and I’m sure the War Room said that there was not enough evidence to over turn it. To me, it looks like there should have been enough evidence to overturn it, and not just because it was a goal for the Pacific Division leading Phoenix Coyotes.
Regardless, if the problem is that these arenas do not have cameras in place to accurately judge these decisions, which seem to happen every other game, then what is stopping them from being installed?
Also, why is the War Room ever involved? They almost NEVER overturn a call made on the ice.
Either more cameras need to be installed, or just let the on-ice official review the video and make the right call, because the whole Toronto War Room is a simply a gimmicky charade that seems like the league is more organized than it really is.
