Our Due Props to the @LAKings
Many of us have criticized the marketing strategies of the Los Angeles Kings.
- There was the confusing:
- The ironic:
Of course, now this promotion is far less ironic than when the billboards first went up in Los Angeles, just before Terry Murray was canned.
Then there is the lack of merchandising to supply the demand. I can’t tell you how many fans I’ve talked to that have had trouble purchasing apparel and jerseys.
But just like on the ice, things have started to turn around in the Kings marketing department.

Additionally, it’s well documented the that official @LAKings twitter feed is absolutely killing it. Deadspin scored an interview with some of the brains behind the best official twitter account in team sports.

This is a sign of good things to come. Please, keep up the great work from inside the Kings’ front offices. With these efforts and some more on-ice success, who knows, maybe even the local news will come around.
Like some other things, it’s been a long time coming.
