This is Why The Kings Will Win

Kings celebrate after game 3

After winning Game 3 at home, taking their 4th straight 3-0 series lead, teetering on the edge of winning the most coveted trophy in sports, the Kings remained collected. Even while the Staples Center crowd went completely berserk, they celebrated calmly. They have had the ability to refocus after each game these Playoffs as well as I can remember any team doing so.

After the game, here is what some of the Kings players had to say:

Justin Williams:

We’re close, but we have another hard one to go.

Willie Mitchell:

It’s all about preparation. It’s all about doing the right things. If you’re looking at results, then you’re wasting your energy on the wrong thing.

Dustin Brown:

…you’ve got to come focused and ready to go. You don’t really think too much about it. I think there will be added pressure, especially considering that we’re at home, and the possibility of winning at home is pretty enticing, the opportunity.

Anze Kopitar:

Yeah, we’re a confident group right now. As we all know, the fourth one is the toughest one. We can enjoy it tonight and get back to work tomorrow. Refocus, recharge. We want to make sure we’re ready for the start on Wednesday, try to get another win.

Drew Doughty:

Even though we’ve got one more to win, we’ve got to look at it as if we’ve got four more… We can’t take anything for granted. It could have been two-nothing for them, before this game. If they win that next one, then all they’ve got to do is win three more. They have the momentum if they win the next one, so we want to finish it off at home in front of our home fans. Like I said, we’ll just reset and refocus.

Jonathan Quick:

We are just trying to win one game here, that’s all we are trying to do. We’re taking it one game at a time. We came in today looking to win one game and we were able to do that. We are just looking to win one game on Wednesday.

While they are on the cusp of achieving something great, it’s not helpful for them to look at it like that. They have to look at it as one game. One challenge. Do everything they have been doing so far.

That is how they have approached every game, and that is how they have been able to dismantle opponents in a very businesslike manner.

Expect more of the same.

    • That was a brutal defensive shift by Dustin Brown. All he had to do was defend Michael Raffl. 2 days ago
